What makes it different
A Tale in the Desert is one of the rare sandbox MMOs built almost entirely around cooperation rather than combat. Crafting, research, agriculture, lawmaking and huge community projects are the actual endgame.
Sandbox systems
CraftingCrafting drives much of the game, with production chains for materials, food, glassware, pottery, metals, wine and other goods.
BuildingPlayers build compounds, machines, monuments and large community projects instead of relying on a combat endgame.
FarmingAgriculture and resource production feed the game's deep crafting and trading systems.
Player EconomyTrade is regional and global, but the economy does not depend on one official backed currency.
PoliticsSocial and political challenges are a core part of progression in a game with no combat.
LawmakingPlayers can create petitions, gather signatures and vote on laws that can actually be implemented in the game.
ResearchPlayers donate resources to universities to unlock new skills, technologies and machines for the community.
Social Sandbox
Persistent WorldThe multiplayer world and player progress continue to exist between play sessions.
